LOOK: 4 Entries Named Top Earners Of MMFF 2014

Gross earnings breach P180M on 2nd day

Manila, Philippines – FOUR entries in the on-going Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) have been named as top earners in the local film industry.

The highest earning entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) so far are a mix of comedy and horror films, continuing a trend seen in recent editions of the annual event.

Metro Manila Development Authority chairperson Francis Tolentino, who also heads to the MMFF executive committee, revealed on Friday the top four films in the box-office race as of December 26.

The eight movies competing in the main section of the MMFF premiered on Christmas Day. Metro Manila cinemas are required to give equal number of screenings for each entry. Provincial theaters, however, are not under the jurisdiction of the MMFF.

Tolentino said the four films leading at the box office as of 1 p.m. Friday were: “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” starring Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto’s “My Big Bossing,” “Feng Shui” featuring Kris Aquino and Coco Martin, and Dingdong Dantes’ “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles.”

The 40th MMFF awards ceremony will be held on Saturday at the PICC in Pasay and will be aired on ABS-CBN.
