WATCH: Cebu Dancing Inmates Perform for International Eucharistic Congress

The famous Dancing Inmates of maximum security prison facility Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) performed live before Archbishop Charles Maung Cardinal Bo of Myanmar, Pope Francis’ official representative to the 51st International Eucharistic Congress.

Despite the drizzle, 800 of the more than 2,500 inmates inmates showcased their solemn side as they danced to the tune of “Christ in you, our hope of glory”, the theme song of this year’s International Eucharistic Congress wearing their trademark orange uniforms and white gloves.

Bo told the inmates that whatever happens, even if they lose everything, they should never lose hope. “Eucharist is about hope. We pray for your future. Some of the great men and women in history went through a fear like yours but what distinguished them was they never gave up hope,” he said.

The Cebu dancing inmates became a YouTube sensation when their video dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” which is part of their morning exercise became viral online.
