T.G.I.S. vs GIMIK: Which Teen Show Did You Watch More?

Many would definitely agree that GMA 7’s “T.G.I.S.” and ABS-CBN’s “GIMIK” were the hottest youth oriented show in the 90’s. The rivalry between the two shows and the loveteams were really high around the year of 1995 until 1999.

Who could ever forget the classic loveteams of Angelu-Bobby, Judy Ann-Rico and Jolina-Marvin? Seeing their old photos would surely bring out the nostalgia in you. They had a plot line that every teenager can relate to. Many teen-oriented show followed after “T.G.I.S.” and “GIMIK”, but nothing beats these two. Lucky are those who were able to watch and follow these two programs.

Produced by GMA Network and Viva Television, TGIS (Thank God It’ Sabado) was a youth oriented drama series aired on GMA Network from August 12, 1995 to November 27, 1999 aired every Saturday.

The show has received various awards and recognitions including  Best Youth-Oriented Show, PMPC Star Awards for Television 1997-1999; Best Teen-Oriented Show, Catholic Mass Media Awards 1997 and Best TV Special Winner “TGI-Xmas” 1998 PMPC Star Awards for Television.

A year after TGIS was aired on GMA Network, GIMIK was launched on ABS-CBN. It was a Filipino youth oriented show aired from June 15, 1996 until February 13, 1999 every Saturday at 4pm.
