The voting only started on September 8th, but our very own Rachelle Anne Go who made her debut in the West End revival of Miss Saigon as ‘Gigi van Tranh’ is already leading the pack.
“The 2014 West End Frame Awards began in March when The Book of Mormon was voted Funniest West End Show. Les Miserables’ Tam Mutu went on to win Best Performance of a Song and, most recently, Miss Saigon’s Carolyn Maitland won Understudy of the Year.
Best West End Debut runs as part of the 2014 West End Frame Awards. Unlike other theatre awards, West End Frame only opens voting for one category at a time and combines male and female actors from musicals and plays into the same categories (where applicable). This award is a celebration of the West End’s newest talent.”
Rachelle Ann made her theater debut as Ariel in the Atlantis Production of Disney’s Little Mermaid in 2011, where she won the Best Actress Award for a Musical in the Broadway World Awards. She also played Jane Porter in the musical adaptation of Tarzan in 2013.
The 27-year-old pop singer is now part of the West End revival of ‘Miss Saigon’ after successfully passing the audition in Manila. Rachelle Ann plays Gigi (originally played by Isay Alvarez) who introduces one of the first big moments in the show with the song ‘Movie in My Mind‘.
