The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is set to become the first to stage a sports event at the newly opened Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Owned by religious group Iglesia ni Cristo, the Philippine Arena at Ciudad de Victoria in Bocaue and Santa Maria, Bulacan that has a maximum seating capacity of 55,000, has been declared suitable to host PBA games after Commissioner Chito Salud inspected the venue.
The 40th PBA season is set to kick off on October 19 and Salud said they will announce the league’s opening day double-header on Monday, pending the finalization of their lease contract for the venue.
“We are now ironing out the final terms of engagement. But the Philippine Arena is ready for the PBA,” he said on the league’s official website.
Salud earlier hinted an opening game between PBA expansion teams Kia Motors and Blackwater Sports and a match between Barangay Ginebra and Talk ‘N Text.
