Philippines reported 9,838 new COVID-19 cases on Friday (March 26) as the country continues to battle a sharp spike in infections.
Fifty more fatalities were recorded, bringing the death toll to 13,149. There are 663 new recoveries, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 580,689 or 82.6% of all infections.
As of Friday, Philippines has reported a total of 702,856 COVID-19 cases, of which 109,018 are considered active or infectious.
At this pace, Philippines will overtake Indonesia soon and have the highest number of active cases in Southeast Asian region.
