Philippines announced 7,999 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the highest daily count since the pandemic began, taking the total confirmed cases to 656,056.
Meanwhile 597 recovered and 30 new deaths were reported according to the Department of Health.
Total active cases reach 80,642.
