Storm signals may be raised in the provinces of Catanduanes, Northern Samar, and Camarines Norte late Thursday due to Tropical Storm Amang (Mekkhala), according to the state weather bureau.
Amang was last observed 765 kilometers east of Guiuan in Eastern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5 p.m. bulletin, Philstar reported.
It maintained its strength of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph.
The northeast monsoon, meanwhile, continued to prevail in Luzon.
“Cagayan valley will be cloudy with light rains while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated light rains,” Pagasa said.
