‘Norte’ Is Philippines’ Entry to Oscars For Best Foreign Language Film

The historical drama film “Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan” has been selected as the Philippines’ official entry to the 87th Academy Awards.

Directed by Lav Diaz and topbilled by Urian Best Actress  Angeli Bayani, the Film Academy of the Philippines has announced today Norte, The End of History (Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan) as the Philippine entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category.

The official nominees in this category will be announced in January 2015, with the awards ceremony scheduled on February 22.

The news was confirmed by the production team behind “Norte” on the film’s official Twitter page on Wednesday.

“Norte” reaped top prizes at the 44th Gawad Urian, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Actress for Bayani.  It also bagged the top prize at the Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival in Germany.

Would definitely love to see “Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan” bring home the trophy!
