Metro Manila’s notorious traffic jam almost had cost Pia Wurtzbach the Miss Universe crown.
Albert Andrada recalled how he battled with the worse jam post Typhoon “Nona” to catch a plane to Las Vegas with five delicately sewn gowns meant for Miss Philippines to wear the best on the final event day on December 20.
The original gown did not perfectly fit the beautiful lady and so the team thought using two of Andrada’s gowns during the final day. However, traffic jam couldn’t help and the plane to Las Vegas was missed.
To save Wurtzbach a last-ditch effort was made and the team reached out to Los Angeles-based designer Oliver Tolentino, the big name who has dressed Hollywood stars too and has newly opened boutique in Beverly Hills. He sent nine gowns for Wurtzbach to select the best for the gala day.
The rest is now history.
