The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Thursday ordered the P1 cut on the existing P8.50 minimum fare of passenger jeepneys in Metro Manila.
This means jeepney operators should cut fares from the minimum of P8.50 to P7.50 for the first four kilometers.
According to LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez, the provisional decrease in PUJ fare covers all jeepneys traveling from the nearby provinces going to Metro Manila.
For senior citizens and students, the minimum fare will be P6, Ginez added.
He said the latest fare reduction is expected to be effective immediately after a series of rollbacks in the prices of petroleum products in the local and global markets.
