The ‘Mighty Mouse’ Jimmy Alapag took to Twitter to announce that he would be extending his national team participation as he joins Gilas Pilipinas for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
After his very successful stint in the FIBA Worldcup, nailing multiple big-time three-pointers in Spain, Gilas Pilipinas team captain decided to put off his retirement in the international competition following the injuries, contract issues and eligibility issues of other national team players.
Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes also shared this great news on his Twitter.
Alapag is expected to take the place of the injured Jayson Castro, who sat out Gilas’ final preliminary game in the World Cup against Senegal due to knee tendonitis.
Andray Blatche is also confirmed to be out of the Asian Games Roster due to the 3 year residency rule of the Olympic Council of Asia or OCA. Marcus Douthit is set to replace Andray Blatche in the Asian Games Roster.
