A California teen who became famous as ‘Instagram’s richest kid’ for posting photos of himself showing off his extreme wealth, is in jail for selling a stolen iPhone online.
Param Sharma rose to fame on Instagram in 2013 by posting photos of his very luxurious life and often tagging celebrities in the caption of his posts. He even called the the Kardashian family a “pile of peasants” in his shot of a trunk filled with Louis Vuitton luggage.
Sharma was sentenced in August to 90 days in jail for selling the stolen phone. Just ironic that he got in trouble selling iPhone considering he has been posting Instagram pics showing him having plenty of gadgets. According to JustJared, the 18-year-old was found guilty of a misdemeanor charge because he didn’t make an attempt to find the original owner of the found iPhone. Sharma and his attorney Andrew Shalaby claim Sharma was simply selling the phone for a friend who was unable to do it himself.
Sharma is still at the Santa Rita jail, apparently unable to cover his $30,000 bond.
