Miley Cyrus made so much noise in last year’s MTV Video Music Awards with her raunchy performance with Robin Thicke.
This year, she stole the show again by sending her mystery date up on the stage to accept her “Video of the Year” award for her song “Wrecking Ball”.
His name is Jesse, a young homeless man whom Miley met at “My Friend’s Place’, an organization dedicated to helping the homeless.
Miley gave him the spotlight as an opportunity to shed some light on the problem of homeless youth in America.
“I’ve survived in shelters all over this city. I’ve cleaned your hotel rooms. I’ve been an extra in your movies. I’ve been an extra in your life. Though I may have been invisible to you on the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight.A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”
“The music industry will make over $7 billion this year, and outside these doors are 54,000 human beings who have no place to call home. If you want to make a powerful change in the world right now, please join us and go to Miley’s Facebook page.
Miley was brought to tears watching him on stage. She later shared a post on her Facebook encouraging her fans to help raise awareness and funds to end youth homelessness.
