Dr Dre Is Forbes’ Highest Paid Hip-Hop Star, Guess How Much He Earned Last Year

Dr Dre has been named the top earning star in hip-hop once again!

With $620m in estimated pre-tax earnings, veteran rapper and record producer Dr Dre topped Forbes list as the highest paid hip-hop artist, ousting Sean “Diddy” Combs from the top spot.

The music mogul made more than any entertainer ever last year, in estimates by Forbes. He actually earned more than the total earnings of the 24 other artists to appear on their annual list. Dr. Dre didn’t have any album out last year but of course, Dre famously sold his massive Beats Electronics empire last year, which he founded with Jimmy Lovine to Apple for $3 billion.

Jay-Z and P Diddy tied at number two with estimated earnings of $60 million, Jay’s highest since 2010 following the success of his latest album, Magna Carta…Holy Grail, several extensive world tours, Roc Nation and his D’Usse cognac while Diddy made mega bucks, again without releasing an album, but through his Ciroc vodka, Blue Flame marketing and REVOLT TV.

Canadian rapper Drake made his highest peak on the tally yet at number three. Last year his latest album Nothing Was The Same shot straight to the top of the US Billboard Top 200, number two in the UK, while his endorsement deals with Nike and another massively successful world tour racked up $33 million from June 2013 to June 2014.
