Indonesia President Joko Widodo called for an emergency meeting regarding the case of Mary Jane Veloso after learning that the alleged recruiter has surrendered to police authorities this morning.
In an interview with GMA News, Migrante Chairperson Gary Martinez said that Widodo met with the Indonesia Attorney General’s Office as reports that Veloso’s alleged recruiter is currently in the custody of the Philippine police.
The recruiter, identified as Christine Pasadilla a.k.a. Kristina Sergio, surrendered at the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Veloso earlier showed signs of resignation as she talked to her family about wanting a simple make-up and dress.
Veloso attended Mass and had lunch with her family.
She earlier urged her family not do anything that would result to a damaged relations with Indonesia. She said she had met good Indonesians, DFA Spokesman Charles Jose said.
