US Marine Pfc. Joseph Scott Pemberton finally showed up in public during his booking at the Olongapo Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 74 Friday morning for the murder of Filipina transgender Jeffrey “Jennifer” Laude.WATCH: Pemberton Shows Up In Court, Booked on Murder Charges in Laude Slay
Pemberton was brought to the Olongapo Hall of Justice before dawn Friday and underwent booking procedures. His arraignment, however, did not push through as the US Marine’s camp filed a motion to suspend proceedings before the Olongapo City Regional Trial Court.
Lawyer Harry Roque posted the following video on YouTube.
Marilou Laude, sister of Jennifer, said seeing Pemberton in court brought mixed emotions.
“Mixed emotions. Natatakot, nagagalit. Kung puede lapitan ko siya, tanungin, kung pwede iuntog ko siya sa pader pero napakaraming gwardiya. NCIS na naka-buddy sa kanya.”
Roque said they will file three motions today — a formal entry of appearance, for Pemberton to be detained in an Olongapo jail, and to allow the media to cover the court appearances of Pemberton.
