15,000 Kamikazee fans came to Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, December 10 to bid farewell to their idols as the rock legends made music history and staged their farewell show after 15 years.
In January 2015, Kamikazee, composed of Ferdinand Jay Contreras on lead vocals, Jomal Linao on lead guitar and co-lead vocals, Led Zeppelin Tuyay on lead/rhythm guitars and backing vocals, Puto Astete on bass guitar, and Bords Burdeos on drums shared a video on Facebook saying that they will take a break as a band to concentrate on other interests and spend time with their families.
During the concert, Jay turned emotional as he thanked everyone who became part of their 15-year journey as a band.
Spicy Lemon, thank you very much, salamat sa binigay nyong regalo… At sa lahat ng taong nandito ngayong gabi, thank you very much. Nung una akala namin imposibleng mangyari ‘to, walang manonood sa Kamikazee, mali kami, tama kayo. Maraming salamat! Thank you talaga!,” Jay said before he introduced Kyla as her special guest and they performed one of the band’s iconic hit single, “Huling Sayaw”.
