In a world where we struggle with the issue of plastic waste and climate change, Coca Cola may have really knocked it out with their latest campaign.
Coca Cola in Asia has introduced innovative caps to transform used bottles into fun and useful objects. Together with award winning ad agency Ogilvy & Mather China, they created 16 red screw-on caps that can be attached to used Coke bottles that encourage consumers to reuse and recycle plastic.
Creative ideas like this is not something new to Filipinos. Pinoys are known for making something out of scrap, hence, the famous line “May pera sa basura”. In the country, we also have the ‘Liter of Light’, a global open source movement that uses plastic bottles to make light bulbs.
Coca-Cola’s second life tools includes paintbrush, pencil sharpener, bubble-blower, water pistol, lotion or shampoo dispenser, children’s toy, squirter for watering plants, night light, and ketchup or sauce dispenser.
This started in Vietnam where 40,000 free bottle caps are given out after a customer purchases a bottle of Coke. The campaign will then spread across Asia.
