Thousands of devoted catholics who have been waiting for the Pope’s arrival since this morning cheered excitedly as they finally saw in person the leader of the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis was welcomed by President Benigno Aquino III and other government officials as well as church officials.

Meanwhile, the two orphaned children who were also among those who welcomed Pope Francis received hugs from the pontiff after they offered him flowers.
