Netizens slammed former beauty queen Precious Lara Quigaman over Instagram posts while Pope Francis was in the country.

On January 17, the third day of Pope Francis’ Philippine visit, Quigaman posted images bearing Bible verses, stressing that people can only be saved through Jesus Christ.

Only through Jesus Christ.

While she did not directly mention Pope Francis in her posts, Quigaman received mixed reactions from some Filipino netizens, who said they got the impression that she is “disrespecting” the Holy Father, ABS-CBN reported.

One Way.

“Wow, perfect timing? We know what this means, sad,” one online commenter said.

“She could’ve posted this on a different day and not during these times when people are in so much awe of the Pope’s presence. She’s trying to imply something with this post,” another commented.

Quigaman uploaded another image showing the text “Respect,” saying she does not understand why some people were offended by her posts.

The Born Again Christian stated that she respects Pope Francis and explained that she posted the Bible verses as her “own personal reminder not to look anywhere else but to focus on Jesus.”

She said that even the Pope himself “reminded us to focus on God and not him.”

I usually post quotes, bible verses, etc on MY IG page to encourage, inspire, remind not just my followers but myself. When I feel down I post something to cheer me up. When I post pictures, it’s not just for my followers to see but for me to look back to. Again. This is my IG page, I post what I want… sure I want to please my followers, but I also post for my own pleasure and more than that I want to please my God. Which is why I don’t understand why a lot of people suddenly reacted to my recent posts. #nagulatako #super I respect Pope Francis. I am grateful to him for bringing hope to our kababayans and making a lot of us smile. I think he is doing a great job. The Bible Verses I posted are very powerful. And I believe in them. The reason I posted them is for my own personal reminder not to look anywhere else but to focus on Jesus. My Lord and Savior. My God. Because I Believe that He is the only way to Heaven and to share that message to my followers. (Even Pope Francis reminded us to focus on God and not Him) So what is the fuss all about? It was not my intention to offend or disrespect anybody and I’m not going to apologize for sharing God’s Word. Words from the Bible. Whether you are a catholic or a born again, we are all Christians- and you will find that in your Bible. Im sure even the pope believes these verses. And you know what made me sad. People asking me to respect them when I think they don’t even know what it means to respect someone. You are the ones who are not respecting me and what I believe in. And This is what I believe: that JESUS CHRIST is LORD. He died on the cross to save us all if we believe in HIM. HE IS THE ONLY WAY. THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM! And I just simply shared it on MY IG Page. May God enlighten our minds. Peace.
