Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa admits that she wants to enter the showbiz industry because she wants to give her family a good life. She also admits that she was unhappy that she was unable to make it to the Miss Universe Top 5.
Mary Jean Lastimosa, the Philippines’ bet in the recent Miss Universe pageant, said she would have had a ready answer to the question asked in the final round of the competition held last Sunday in Miami, Florida.
In the second part of the question-and-answer portion, the top five contestants were asked, “What is the greatest contribution of your country to the entire world?”
The final question about a country’s contribution to the world came from a viewer and had to be answered by all five contestants.
“Nanghihinayang ako na I wasn’t given the chance to speak up!” Lastimosa said. “I think that the questions were really nice and I would have loved to be there. But I respect the judges’ decision, I respect what God has given me and the plans that He has for me, and I’m just excited for what’s in store for me in the future.
Lastimosa’s top-10 finish in Miss Universe broke the string of Filipino runners-up in the pageant after Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida.
Paulina Vega of Colombia was crowned Miss Universe 2014. The rest of the top five came from the United States, Ukraine, Netherlands and Jamaica.
