It was a Horror Sunday with the “Kubots”.
Filipino director Erik Matti had a very busy 2012, shooting a trio of films with erotic thriller Rigodon, effects driven action-horror-comedy Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles and Cannes selected crime thriller On The Job. He contributed a spot to The ABCs Of Death 2 this year but has been otherwise absent from screens since On The Job, with a number of projects in development but that ends on Christmas Day with the Filipino theatrical release of Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2.
Opens on December 25th and competing for the annual Metro Manila Film Festival, Kubot picks up the story with Makoy (Dingdong Dantes) obviously back in Manila. The cast, which also includes Ramon Bautista, Isabelle Daza and Jeron Teng, is indicative that his wife (Lovi Poe) and child are left at home, or worse, killed.
