Man, 80, Accused Over Acid Attack On 20 Year-Old Ex-Partner

Vikki Horsman is a 20 year old care taker who lives in West Midlands, England.

According to media report, she had recently broken up with her boyfriend, Mohammad Rafiq, who was 60 years her senior.

Vikki Horsman, who converted to Islam for 80-year-old Mohammed Rafiq, had acid thrown in her face after he allegedly arranged for the liquid to be hurled over her as she answered the door. She is pictured left after converting, and right, where the scars on her neck could be seen.

Earlier, she had described the breakdown of her relationship with Rafiq, more than six times her senior, who she had been sleeping with since she was 18.

Rafiq, whom she had known six years, had bought her a car, but became increasingly ‘very controlling’ she told the court.

‘He often accused me of cheating on him,’ she said.

Miss Horsman, who now suffers ‘terrible’ scarring across her face and neck, met Rafiq in 2010 through a friend, shortly after her mother, father and grandmother died within a short period of time.

She told the jury of seven women and five men how she had ‘pressure put on me’ from Rafiq to convert to Islam, and change her name to Aleena Rafiq in November 2013.

Vikki explained the reasons she broke up with Rafiq were he was too controlling, wanted her convert to Islam and to change her name to Aleena Rafiq. After she broke it off Rafiq refused to agree that the relationship was over and began stalking her.

One evening, while getting ready to go to work, there was a knock at the door and when Horsman opened it she was confronted with a man in a gray hoodie. He said her name and threw the contents of a bottle at her. Horsman said she had noticed Rafiq’s face peering in through her living room window as she dashed into the kitchen to splash water on her face and neck.

The attack has left scars on her face, neck, upper torso and upper thigh. Doctors say Horsman will need therapy for many years to follow.
