In the Philippines, libel is considered a criminal offense encompassing the traditional tri-media of print, radio and TV, as well as the Internet as stated in the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

In August, Sy Lim was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s Women and Children Protection Unit over another libel case filed by Deniece Cornejo.
