Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga were declared box office king and queen for their blockbuster film “Starting Over Again.”
Star Cinema films and Kapamilya artists reigned supreme at the 46th Box Office Entertainment Awards ng Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF).
PEP reports that the winners were chosen from the top 10 films, TV shows, recordings, and concert last year in a deliberation held yesterday, May 16.
For 2014, “Starting Over Again’s” Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga were declared box office king and queen. Their film grossed some P410 million in the box office.
Meanwhile, Vice Ganda did it again as 2014’s Phenomenal Star after “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin,” one of Star Cinema’s entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival, grossed a whopping P465 million. It is currently the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
Another Star Cinema MMFF entry, “Feng Shui,” was named all-time highest-grossing horror film, with earnings reaching to P235 million.
“Para Sa Hopeless Romantic” stars, James Reid and Nadine Lustre, meanwhile, won most popular love team in movies and TV, while Kim Chiu and Xian Lim are the Princess and Prince of Philippine movies and TV.
“Crazy Beautiful You” love team Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, on the other hand, were declared Teen Queen and King of Philippine Movies and TV.
James and Nadine’s co-star Iñigo shared the most promising love team recognition with Sofia Andres for “Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig.”
Angelica Panganiban’s contributions in the film industry, having starred most recently in the critically and commercially successful “That Thing Called Tadhana,” will be honored with the Bert Marcelo Lifetime Achievement Award.
The awarding ceremony will take place on June 14 at the Solaire Resorts and Casino in Pasay City.
