Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. will return as judges and Ryan Seacrest will host the show’s 14th season.
Seacrest is the only member of the original on-air “Idol” team and he signed a two-year deal that will keep him on the show through Season 15. Despite low ratings, Fox still decided to bring the three judges back as viewers love the chemistry, interaction and relationship between the judges.
“Jennifer, Keith, Harry and Ryan are the very best in the business at what they do, and I’m thrilled that they are returning to American Idol for another season,” said David Hill, Senior EVP of 21st Century Fox. “Each brings unique qualities and expertise to the team, but they all share the same passion for helping undiscovered singers achieve the American dream.” – David Hill, Senior Executive Vice President, 21st Century Fox.
American Idol remains the most-watched reality singing competition not just in the United States, but worldwide. Its popularity notwithstanding, the producers still found a way to trim down hours from the show.
Season 14 will start airing on January 2015.
