In Monaco, Minnesota at Franklin Elementary school, a group of brave young boys with big hearts open their friendship to a student that has special needs. Instead of picking him and bullying at school, they play together, stick together and help him with all his needs.
James Willmert is a 5th grader at Franklin Elementary in Minnesota. He has a learning disability, and he is often bullied for being different.
When a group of five boys saw the way James was treated, they took matters into their own hands.
“Why pick on someone who has special needs?” the boys asked rhetorically.
The boys learned that James was adopted from an orphanage in Columbia, and that just six years later, his new father passed away in a bicycle accident.
James became more interested in other people and more willing to talk and take part in other social activities. The teasing has stopped, he’s become more interested in sports and is obviously a lot happier. This is touching story and an unexpected one…really.
