HBO Documentary: South Korean Gamer Couple's 3-Month-Old Died While They Cared for Virtual Child

Love Child tells the story of two South Korean parents who were so addicted to the Korean 3D fantasy MMORPG Prius Online that they neglected their three month old child to the point that he died.

The documentary provides a glimpse at the disturbing effects video games can have on the new generation of gamers.

Kim Jae-beom and his wife Kim Yun-jeong were arrested and charged for involuntary manslaughter after their real-life child, Sarang, died from malnutrition while they were busy playing an online game which involved caring for a virtual child. The couple would spend all day playing and they made money by selling virtual goods and money for real cash.

The film, directed by Seattle native Valerie Veatch and executive produced by T-Mobile CEO John Legere debuts on HBO this Monday, July 28 at 9 p.m.
