Dramatic footage shows avalanche hitting Everest base camp

A wall of snow engulfs Mount Everest’s base camp during an avalanche in the aftermath of Nepal’s worst earthquake in decades.

At least 17 people are known to have died at the camp, but rescue operations there continue.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the quake itself has surpassed 2,500, and at least 5,000 others are injured.
