Cherie Gil bagged the Best Actress award during the 2015 ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA).
The awarding ceremony was held last night, April 11, at the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching, Malaysia.
The Filipina actress was recognized for her role as an opera singer in the film Sonata.

ASEAN Inspiration Award: Jackie Chan
Other Filipino talents who were nominated at AIFFA were Allen Dizon (Magkakaubang/ The Coffin Maker)) for Best Actor; Nico Antonio (Red) for Best Supporting Actor; Best Photography for Bernard Dacanay (Red and Sonata), Best Screenplay for Ralston Jover (Bendor) , Wanggo Gallaga (Sonata), Anna Luna for Best Supporting Actress (Bendor) and directors Carlo Obispo (Purok 7) and Ralston G Jover (Bendor).
